Russian Premier League club Rostov has hired Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov as an advisor in a bid to reverse its fortunes, local press reported Tuesday. The club\'s general manager Yury Belous said the 45-year-old Stoichkov, the most successful Bulgarian football player of all time, will be in charge of all of the club\'s sporting projects. \"Every club project to do with sport will be Hristo\'s (Stoichkov) responsibility,\" Belous said. \"He also will be responsible for the club\'s staffing policy.\" Bulgarian football icon Stoichkov debuted in professional football with CSKA Sofia in 1985, where he won the European Golden Boot, scoring 38 goals in 30 matches. In 1990 he was signed by the Spanish giants Barcelona, where he won the Spanish Primera Division four consecutive times helping also Barca to win the UEFA Champions\' League in 1992. At the 1994 World Cup in the United States, Stoichkov was awarded the Golden boot as the tournament\'s joint top goal scorer as he led his country to the event\'s semi-finals. Stoichkov, the latest foreigner to become involved in Russian football, will be an advisor to club president Sergei Gorban and will want to resurrect the fortunes of the club which is currently third from the bottom of the league.
