Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Al-Khudairi stressed Tuesday that there is no relation between terrorism and any specific faith.
Addressing reporters following the 19th session of Conference of the Ministers in charge of Cultural Affairs in the Arab World, Dr. Al-Khudairi said the message of the conference is that there is no religion or identity for terrorism which is based on killing and sabotage.
"Everybody needs to realize the seriousness of this menace which threatens all communities, including the investment centers and infrastructure," he said, highlighting the need to find suitable solutions to the root causes.
The just-ended ministerial conference, held under the patronage of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, adopted the Riyadh Declaration which urges paying more attention to the Palestinian question.
"The continuation of the suffering of the Palestinian people deepens the culture of violence and intolerance," Al-Khudairi warned, adding: "We, as a Muslim community, see the violation of the Palestinians' rights with the support of Western countries (to Israel); it's normal that such violations foment the senses of injustice." The conference, themed "The Arabic Language - Basic for Cultural and Humanitarian Integration," recommended enriching the language through better utilization of the modern media, including the social networking websites, to keep abreast with the latest developments and reach out to various segments of the society, he went on.
In the meantime, the minister cautioned against erroneous use of, or misinformation on, the social media, noting that the Western peoples managed to turn the websites into useful scientific, cultural and social platforms.
Al-Khudairi added that there is planning for launching a thematic channel on the Arab culture, voicing hope that the channel will see light soon.
