Leading member of Fatah Movement Yahia Rabah blamed the increasing challenges facing the current negotiations for the slowness of the Palestinian reconciliation, stressing keenness of the Palestinian leadership to remove the obstacles facing the talks between the Palestinian factions.
He added that a delegation from Fatah Movement is keen to contact with the Egyptian side and other Palestinian factions to brief them on the developments of the talks between leaders of Fatah and Hamad during the coming period.
He stressed that the meeting is scheduled to discuss a large number of critical issues, including the latest developments witnessed in the Palestinian arena and the issues that were delayed during the first round of talks.
He added that that the current talks between Fatah and Hamas are conducted with Egyptian guarantees, saying that Egypt works seriously to end the current Palestinian division not to allow Israel’s Prime Minister to use the current situation as a pretext to undermine any political process aiming to resolve the Palestinian issue and to establish an independent Palestinian state.
He added that the current meetings aim to empower the national unity government to perform its role in the Gaza Strip in order to resolve the crises witnessed in the Gaza Strip, especially in the electricity to pave the way for lifting the restrictions imposed on Gaza.
He continued that the Egyptian government pledged to resolve the problem of the Rafah Crossing, saying that disarmament of Hamas is not on the agenda of the current round of talks between the Palestinian factions during the current period.
He stressed that Egypt exerts increasing efforts during the current period, saying that the Palestinian factions appreciate the Egyptian efforts and its guarantees to push forward the talks between Fatah and Hamas. He added that Egypt gives priority to the interest of the Palestinians because it believes that the Palestinian issue is a major priority to the Arab nation.
He expressed his optimism that the Palestinians turn currently to unify themselves and their institutions and to end a large number of problems from which the Palestinian people suffer for years. He stressed that that there are steps that can be felt by different people, including ending or reducing the electricity crisis, and the return of staff to their workplaces and administrative structure, and address the outstanding files of the staff of the Palestinian National Authority.
On the other hand, he said that U.S President Donald Trump defied the international community and legitimacy through his decision to turn the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel. He warned of the repercussions of such a decision not only on the peace process but also on the different regional issues.
He added that the American position represents a war against the Palestinian people and the Arabs as a whole, and the position of Trump and his administration is an aggression on freedom and justice and the Palestinian. He stressed that it will lead to tension in the region and a threat to international peace and security.
He added that the American administration has stepped out of the role of mediator in the peace process in the role of bias and adopting the extreme right-wing position.
He added that the main problem is that the status quo has been violated. This can lead to a braking and so sluggishly moving political process for the demarcation of the two peoples in the Middle East.
