A new crisis looms in the horizon between Egypt and Turkey against the backdrop of a picture published by a professor in Alexandria University for Turkey's President Recep Tayeb Erdogan as featherless chicken on her social media account.
The picture raised a state of controversy on the political side as Turkey's Consul in Alexandria expressed his resentment over the action, saying that his country could take diplomatic measures.
Egypt's former Foreign Minister Mohamed Al Orabi said that what the Egyptian professor did comes in the framework of personal freedom to express her opinion. He added that such action could not affect the diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey, as the action came from an ordinary citizen with no fornal position in the government.
Orabi, who serves as Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of Egypt's parliament, added that what is published on social media is not considered a formal document of condemnation in the diplomatic norms.
He added that the Egyptian parliament will not take actions in response to any escalation from Turkey, saying that it is the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry. He expressed his refusal to any such actions, saying that President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi is keen not to talk about Turkey.
He stressed that such actions will not change the Turkish positions from Egypt and Will not serve the Egyptian positions from the issues in which the two countries adopt different visions.
