The leader of New Generation party (NGP), a new party founded in March 2011, Sufian Gilali, told Emirates Voice his political party's stand from the local elections scheduled to be held in the end of this year, according to Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He also revealed details of his meeting with the rival of Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in 2014 elections, Ali Benflis.
Gilali said he met with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's rival in the 2014 presidential elections, Ali Benflis, two weeks ago, to discuss current political and economic issues, as well as municipal elections scheduled for end of 2017.
The head of NGP clarified that his political group will announce its final stand of the municipal elections on August 26, during the meeting of central committee.
He explained that NGP will reveal its final stand from localities elections, scheduled for the period from November to December, in September 16, at the meeting of the National Council.
Sufian Gilali refused to confirm the validity of information that the trend within the political group is to enter the next election after the party announced its boycott earlier in the parliamentary elections, held on May 4 last.
He said that his political group deliberately postponed the decision on this issue compared to other parties, referring to the party's desire to identify the government's intention to deal with current issues and the extent of its commitment to open a dialogue with the opposition.
Gilali stressed NGP has already expressed its readiness to engage in path of change announced by Algerian PM, especially if his speech and all the promises that he launched will be implemented.
Regarding alliances with political formations in the upcoming municipal elections, the leader of NGP said that this is unlikely and will be determined during the session of the national council of party.
Regarding conflict between Algerian Prime Minister and influential businessmen in the country, Gilali said that the statement published by a private satellite channel said that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika ordered his PM to stop his actions against major economic agents in the country, is a preparation for his disqualification.
