The Head of Shura Council of Ennahda Movement, Abdel-Karim al-Harouni, said that the latest statements of Rashid Ghannouchi represent the movement and express official stand, calling for its non-interpretation.
Al-Harouni clarified, in statements for Emirates Voice on the sidelines of the 14th session of the Shura Council that what accompanied Ghannouchi's remarks from comments, reactions and attitudes indicates the importance of Ennahda in political life.
He added that the movement supports the government in implementing the priorities of Carthage document and in its war against corruption, adding that his movement calls on the government to devote its time and focus to implementing the priorities. He said dragging the country into an early election campaign is not in its interest and would interfere with its work.
Al-Harouni stressed the movement's support for Ghannouchi's request from Prime Minister Youssef Al-Shahid, to pledge not to run for the next presidential elections in the form of continuing his duties as prime minister, renewing their support for the unity government.
In a different context, al-Harouni said that his movement had nothing to do with corruption. "They could not file any corruption against the movement and will not be able to do this, because Ennahda entered the government clean, emerged from the government clean, returned to the government clean and will stay clean," he said.
Commenting on what was reported about the leaks attributed to Nidaa Tounes' MP, Fadel Ben Omran, who spoke about the existence of suspicions of corruption and business in the presidency of the government, al-Harouni said that whoever speaks about Ennahda must respect himself and we challenge them to go to justice if they have any files of corruption.
On the other hand, al-Harouni stressed Ennahda movement supports economic reconciliation, but provided that some amendments to the draft law before People's Assembly. He pointed out that economic reconciliation is part of the comprehensive reconciliation, stressing the need to develop this law to reach a fair reconciliation by law and agreement.
Al-Harouni called on President Baiji Kayed Al-Sibsi to launch an initiative aimed at resolving the crisis in Gulf as he is an expert in diplomacy and a highly respected head of state in the world.
