Egyptian parliamentarian Magdy Melek praised the visit conducted by Vatican’s Pope Francis to Egypt, saying that the visit came to prove the country’s security and stability during the current critical period. He stressed that Egypt will keep its position as the oasis of stability despite the attempts of enemies to turn the country into chaos.
He added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, “The major message delivered by Vatican’s pope during his visit to Cairo is that terrorism is not related to Islam, as the religion is innocent from the violations committed by the terrorists who raise Islamic slogans.” He blamed what he described as international conspiracies for the attempts aiming to raise the chaos in the Middle East during the current critical period.
He praised the meeting between Vatican’s Pope Francis and Azhar’s Grand Imam Ahmed Al Tayeb, saying that such a meeting came to undermine these conspiracies aiming to raise sectarian tensions. He added that Egypt will remain the land of peace in the whole world.
He praised the speech delivered by Azhar’s grand imam, saying that his speech carried a large number of important messages to the world, including the religions’ innocence from the terrorist actions and the need for dialogue to promote peaceful ideas. He added that the word of Ahzr’s sheikh came to refute the claims of those people who attempt to raise skepticism over the role performed by Azhar.
He called on the state institutions, led by the government and the Ministry of Tourism, to exploit the Pope's visit to activate the tourism movement to Egypt after the huge halt to this important and vital sector. He described the visit as unpaid propaganda for Egypt’s tourism.
The Egyptian parliamentarian accused Egypt’s Export Control Authority of allowing a shipment of a non-human consumption bean to enter the country through Damietta Port. He added that the parliament’s Agriculture Committee is scheduled to hold a meeting during the coming days to discuss the violation. He stressed that the Egyptian parliament should not keep silent in dealing with such violations.
The Egyptian parliamentarian stressed that the current government of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail works under critical circumstances, saying that they exert increasing efforts to develop the country during the current critical period. We, as parliamentarians, monitor the governmental performance and monitor its mistakes. We, as deputies of the people, carry the concerns and demands of citizens, and translate them into the parliament.
