Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit rejected the Iranian interference in the affairs of many Arab countries.
The Iranian threats should stop, Abul Gheit said in an interview with Sky News Channel on the sidelines of the Arab Summit held in Mauritania.
He further underlined that there are threats that come from Iranian officials to Bahrain.
Abul Gheit warned of the consequences of the Iranian policies that will prompt the Arab world to defend itself, noting that there are islands occupied by Iran in the Gulf.
There is Iranian interference in the Arab territories such as in Iraq and Syria, he pointed out.
The AL chief underlined that the decisions that will be issued during the summit will represent condemnation to such acts.
He further wished that the AL would restore its prominent role, noting that many problems were caused by internal Arab disputes or when some Arab countries sought help from foreign powers.
The problem emerged when the AL decided to step itself aside and left the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to play a role in such debates.
Abul Gheit said that the Nouakchott declaration, to be issued during the summit, will tackle challenges facing the Arab world including the danger of terrorism and means of uprooting it.
