Maryland says starting point guard Pe\'Shon Howard is out for the season after tearing a ligament in his knee earlier in the week. Howard went down in practice Thursday with a tear in his right anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery in the next few weeks, Coach Mark Turgeon confirmed. Recovery from such surgery usually requires six weeks, The Washington Post said. The loss leaves Maryland (14-9, 4-5 ACC) without its best defender heading into Saturday\'s road game against No. 9 Duke (20-4, 7-2). Coach Mark Turgeon said the plan was to shift high-scoring Terrill Stogin to the point and insert freshman Nick Faust into Stogin\'s slot at shooting guard. \"Someone will step up; they\'ll get opportunities,\" Turgeon told the Post. \"We just have to figure out how we\'re going to do that, and who\'s going to be the one that steps up for us.\"
