San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair his broken left hand and the Argentine playmaker said on Wednesday that he expects to be sidelined six to eight weeks. Ginobili suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Spurs' NBA loss on Monday at Minnesota, breaking the fifth metacarpal in his left hand. Screws and a plate will be inserted into Ginobili's hand by physician Mark Bagg in San Antonio. Ginobili told the San Antonio Express-News that he expects the timetable for him to be sidelined as long as two months. "Tmrw I'll have a plate & screws on my beloved left hand. Not thrilled," Ginobili posted on Twitter. "I guess I will miss a few weeks. Sad day for me." The 34-year-old guard is averaging 17.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists a game for the Spurs, who lead the Southwest division at 3-2.
