Venus Williams and Coco Vandeweghe have set up a surprise all-American semi-final at the Australian Open as both claimed straight sets quarter-final wins on Tuesday.
Williams defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) for a victory over an opponent who double-faulted nine times - including on match point.
For the 36-year-old Williams, it will be her first Melbourne semi in 14 years.
Meanwhile, compatriot Vandeweghe is the first unseeded women's player to make it to the semi-final stage at a major since Wimbledon 2001.
The 25-year-old continued her purple patch after eliminating holder and world number one Angelique Kerber in the fourth round on Sunday, as she scored another upset, winning 6-4, 6-0 over seventh seed Garbine Muguruza.
The Spaniard, who won the French Open last year, drilled a backhand into the net to lose in just under 90 minutes on Tuesday.
In the other quarter-finals on Wednesday, Karolina Pliskova takes on Mirjana Lucic-Baroni while Johanna Konta plays Serena Williams.
