Japan's world number 92 Misaki Doi claimed her first career title on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-7 (7/9), 6-0 win over Germany's Mona Barthel in the final of the Luxembourg Open.
Left-hander Doi, 24, finished the fresher of the two women having played just one set in her semi-final on Saturday when Belgian opponent Alison Van Uytvanck retired with an injury.
"It was a good start at the beginning of the match. In the second set, it was tough physically and mentally and I couldn't make it. It was almost finished, but not," Doi told www.wtatennis.com.
World number 55 Barthel had been aiming for a fourth title after claiming Bastad in 2014, Paris in 2013 and Hobart in 2012.
