Kjetil Jansrud won the World Cup super-G at Kvitfjell, Norway
Kvitfjell - Arab Today

Norway's Kjetil Jansrud made up for a lacklustre run in the downhill the day before to win Sunday's men's World Cup super-G at Kvitfjell.

Fifth on Saturday, the Norwegian saw off Austria's Vincent Kriechmayr by 17 hundredths of a second with Italian Dominik Paris, seeking to follow up his win 24 hours earlier, in third.

After clinching his 14th World Cup win and fourth super-G at Kvitfjell the 30-year-old Jansrud said: "I've got more of a smile on my face than I had yesterday, but it wasn't absolutely perfect."

In the World Cup super-G standings another Norwegian, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who came in fourth after making a minor error, moved closer to claiming his first title in the discipline.

He took over at the top of the super-G standings from compatriot Aksel Lund Svindal, whose season ended early with injury in mid-January at Kitzbuehel.

"I was really strong in the top part of the course and overall I'm pretty satisfied," said Kilde, 23.

"It's always a pleasure if there's something to play for in the final leg," added Jansrud, the Olympic gold medallist at Sochi in the discipline.

Ahead of the final super-G of the season at Saint Moritz on Thursday, Kilde holds a 37 point advantage over Kriechmayr and 40 points over Jansrud.
