Delio Rossi has spoken for the first time since his dismissal from Palermo, which came on Monday following the side's embarrassing 7-0 loss to Udinese at the Renzo Barbera at the weekend. The 50-year-old joins the long list of coaches to be sacked by Rosanero president Maurizio Zamparini, and he thanked the Palermo fans and the city itself before taking aim at the club supremo. “I want to thank all the people of Palermo and the players. I think the writing was on the wall for some time now," he said during a press conference. "I’m sorry for the way things ended but I am not going to talk about what happened. Perhaps I will say something at the end of the campaign but not now. "I don’t think the decision was made over something I said. I let the facts and results speak for themselves. I think we played some of the best football in Serie A at times and I leave the team in good shape." Rossi concluded by saying he wasn't impressed by Zamparini's personal attacks after the defeat to the Zebrette on Sunday afternoon. "I was bothered by his personal criticisms. I don’t mind being criticised professionally but I don’t like it on a personal level. Serse Cosmi was appointed as the club's new coach on Monday to replace Rossi, with his first game in charge being a trip to Lazio on Sunday evening.
