Top-seeded Roberta Vinci reached her second quarterfinal match of the year Wednesday with a win at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel. Vinci defeated Stephanie Foretz Gacon 7-5, 6-4 and put herself in position to claim a semifinal berth for the first time in 2012. Her other quarterfinal appearance at a hard court tournament in France, where she lost to Marion Bartoli. She will take on Michaella Krajicek after Krajicek outfought eighth-seeded Alberta Brianti 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2). No. 3 seed Sara Errani also advanced by running over Edina Gallovits-Hall 6-4, 6-1. Errani will next face Estrella Cabeza Candela, who won over Melinda Czink 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Other second round winners included Magdalena Rybarikova, Irina-Camelia Begu and Marina Duque-Marino. Begu is the fourth seed in this event.
