David Storl of Germany took gold and claimed his first world title in the men\'s shot put with a final-attempt throw of 21.78 meters on Friday night at the Daegu World Championships. The 21-year-old German thrower lifted his personal bests twice in the final -- 21.60m in the second attempt, which secured his lead in the first three attempts, and the winning mark of 21.78m in the final attempt. His previous personal best is 21.50m, which he achieved in qualifying on Thursday. Dylan Armstrong of Canada took the silver with a throw of 21.64m in the fourth attempt, which gave him a lead in Attempt four and Attempt five before Storl\'s final winning throw. Andrei Mikhnevich of Belarus collected bronze with 21.40m. Defending world champion Christian Cantwell of the United States finished fourth with a throw of 21.36m. Cantwell took gold at the Berlin World Championships in 2009 with a heave of 22.03 meters.
