Veteran Brazilian sailor Robert Scheidt has revealed he could be tempted out of retirement to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist ruled out a seventh appearance at the Games after finishing fourth in the laser event in Rio in August.
But the 43-year-old has begun training in the 49er category alongside countryman Gabriel Borges and admits he is motivated by the challenge to continue competing at the top level.
"I always thought the Rio Games would be my last," Scheidt said. "But the 49er class has caught my interest. It's going to be difficult and a big mountain to climb.
"I don't have any experience with this boat. The 49er is a boat that you can't give up on quickly. It can knock you about at first. But I'm enjoying it. Gabriel is an excellent teammate with Olympic experience. He is very motivated and young."
Five-time Olympic medalist Scheidt won gold in the laser at the Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004 Games.
