Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala marginally extended his overnight lead after the first four specials on Saturday at the Rally of Finland.
The VW Polo-R driver won stages SS11 and SS14 to hold a three-second advantage on his French teammate Sebastien Ogier who won SS12 and SS13.
"I'm not certain of being able to attack this afternoon, it will all depend on the weather conditions," said Ogier, who won in 2013 with Latvala winning last year.
"I didn't attack enough this morning," added the Frenchman. "If the road dries up like forecast my chances are relatively weak but I'll continue to try and pile on the pressure."
Overnight leader Latvala stretched his lead by just 0.4sec, with Britain's Kris Meeke is third at 33.5sec in his Citroen DS3.
"Seb did a brilliant drive. I played it a bit too safe in SS12," said Latvala.
