Heavyweight lifter Salimi sets 217-kg world record in snatch

Behdad Salimi a heavyweight lifter on Thursday lifted a weight of 217 Kilograms in snatch in Sanandaj and broke the world record in this category. He also lifted the 256-kg weight in the clean and jerk event and overturned the previous world record of his compatriot Hossein Rezazadeh in the total (two events) by one kilo. He lifted 473 kilograms in the two events in Sanandaj in a qualifying competition to take part in the coming Paris world championship.
