Two local lads scored the goals which helped England Schoolboys beat their Scottish counterparts and lift the Lloyds TSB Cup at the Sports Direct Arena on Thursday night. Gateshead College student Michael Sweet, who hails from Darlington, gave England the lead midway through the second half with a deft lob. Then Peter Glen-Ravenhill, from St. Thomas More RC High School in North Shields, netted from close range after skipper Jack Pounce\'s drive was parried by Kieran Hughes nine minutes from time. In an entertaining Centenary Shield game marking 100 years of school football in Northumberland, Scotland dominated the first half but England improved markedly after the break to send the majority of the 2,535 crowd home happy. And it was fitting that two of the three North-East-based players in manager Andy Williams\' side - Ashington High School\'s Kyle Downey was the other - were on target in front of the Sky Sports cameras. The win meant England were presented with the Lloyds TSB Cup, awarded annually to the winners of this fixture, while it also improved their chances of lifting the Centenary Shield.
