Kenya\'s Vivian Jepkemoi Cheruiyot completed a golden double on Friday after retaining her world title in the women\'s 5,000 meters race in 14 minutes 55.36 seconds, adding to her new crown at 10,000m earlier in Daegu. Despite looking forward to running \"something special in Daegu\", Cheruiyot\'s winning time is only a bit better than she did in Berlin. The champion mark of 14:57.97 two years ago was the second slowest in the championships\' ninth staging of the distance which replaced the 3,000m in 1995. The leading finishers and the order are exactly the same as which was in Berlin. Cheruiyot\'s fellow Kenyan Sylvia Jebiwott Kibet took the silver medal in 14:56.21, followed by Ethiopia\'s former world and Olympic champion Meseret Defar in 14:56.94. Cheruiyot, debutant of the 10,000-meter distance this year, claimed the world title last Saturday with a personal best of 30:48.98, emulating Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba in winning the gold medal at the world championships 10,000m in the same year as her debut at the distance.
