Yohan Blake beat double world record holder Usain Bolt, his training partner, for the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association's Male Athlete of the Year Award on Friday. "I am very grateful to receive the Golden Cleat Award as male athlete of the year," Blake said. "I have toiled hard throughout the nights working for this moment and to receive this. It's finally here." Blake, 21, became the youngest man to win the IAAF World Championships 100 metres crown when he took this year's final at Daegu, South Korea, after defending champion Bolt was disqualified because of a false start. Bolt went on to retain his 200m title and then teammed with Blake, Nesta Carter and Michael Frater to win the 4x100m in a world record 37.04 seconds. Blake ended the season strongly when he ran the 200m in 19.26 seconds, the second-fastest time ever clocked in the 200, only behind Bolt’s world record of 19.19 seconds. Bolt was undefeated all season and finished the year as the fastest man in the 100 from his run of 9.76 seconds in Brussels. Veronica Campbell-Brown was the winner of the women's Golden Cleat award after taking the 200 world title and second in the 100 and the 4x100 relays.
