Two-out, RBI singles by James Loney and Juan Uribe in the first staked Los Angeles to an early lead Thursday and the Dodgers held on to defeat Pittsburgh 3-2. The Dodgers, who underwent a prolonged change of ownership with a stint in bankruptcy during the off-season, have won six of their first seven games this year. They scored three times in the opening frame, got seven strikeouts in a 5 1/3-inning performance from Chris Capuano and then relied on a scoreless effort from the bull pen to complete a three-game sweep of Pittsburgh. Capuano (1-0) won his first game in a Los Angeles uniform after spending his seven previous seasons with three different teams. He gave up two runs on six hits, after which five relievers combined to shut down the Pirates. Javy Guerra worked the ninth for his fifth save in as many chances. Los Angeles loaded the bases in the first against Jeff Karstens (0-1) before Juan Rivera put the Dodgers in front with a sacrifice fly. Loney and Uribe then singled to complete the Los Angeles scoring. Michael McKenry hit a solo homer for the Pirates in the fifth and Yamaico Navarro had a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
