Motorsport enthusiasts from around the Gulf are invited to enjoy plenty of high-octane thrills at the Ebrahim K Kanoo Drag and Drift Night, powered by Motor City, to be held Thursday (Editor’s Note: November 6) at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The widely popular activity is catered especially for drag racing and drifting lovers, and it will put their skills to the test as they push their very own cars and motorbikes to their limit.
The exciting double-header is being sponsored by Ebrahim K Kanoo and is powered by Motor City. The event has become a fan-favourite at BIC and it regularly attracts dozens of participants and even more spectators.
BIC’s world-class quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network, will play host to the drag racing. The drifting will take place along a special course at BIC’s car park.
Safety standards of the highest international level are followed at all times during the evening’s events, ensuring that both the drivers and fans can enjoy the action with peace of mind.
As part of the drag racing programme, BIC will be offering its immensely popular Dragster Xperience. This is one of the circuit’s most unique and sought-after activities, as it gives participants a taste of pure adrenaline as they are taken from zero to 100kph in just one second while seated as a passenger in a Top Dragster.
The Dragster Xperience costs BD40 per person.
Also on Thursday, drifters will be giving their all as they take on the sharp turns of a challenging course. Their maneuvering and car control skills will be on display as they attempt to swerve and powerslide across the tarmac.
Both the drag racing and the drifting can be enjoyed for a single entry fee of BD10. Participation in just the drag racing or only the drifting costs BD7. Registration can be done on site from 5pm, and the action will be held from 6pm to 11pm.
Those who would like to experience the drag or drift as a passenger can get into a friend’s car for an additional BD4 for each event.
All vehicles must go through mandatory safety checks before being allowed to take part.
Spectators can purchase tickets for BD2 apiece.
All the action on the strip can be enjoyed from BIC’s Batelco Grandstand, where fans will have the most comprehensive view of the straight. Those watching the drifting can be seated at a grandstand alongside the course.
