Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced the joint-organisation of the "Challenge Dubai" international triathlon championship, to be held in Dubai, the UAE on February 27 and organised by Challenge Family and Dubai Sports Council.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad asserted that the joint organisation for this event confirms the fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE.
He noted that his goal is to spread interest in the sport of triathlon amongst young people.
The "Challenge Dubai" triathlon championship will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Dubai Crown Prince and Dubai Sports Council Chairman Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
For his part, "Challenge Bahrain" triathlon championship director and "Challenge Dubai" event supervisor Shaikh Sager bin Salman Al Khalifa expressed his thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Hamdan for their support of the competition, expressing his happiness to strengthen sporting ties with Dubai.
"Challenge Dubai" is to be held at the Jumeirah Beach area. It will be a loop race in the opposite side of the prominent area’s landmarks including Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, and Burj Al Arab.
The Arabian Gulf waters will host the swimming competition, while cycling will be held at a desert area from the city center. The running leg starts on the beach, goes through the marina area passing by Palm Jumeirah Island and back again in the same way down to Jumeirah Beach Park.
The organising committee of the event has announced the launch of online registration through the event’s official website, which will be launched in the next few days.
