The Interior Ministry drafted a full security plan for the Egypt-Senegal Africa Cup qualifier, which will take place this evening at Cairo Stadium.
Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim had ordered the deployment of a complete security and traffic plan to ease the fans' access to the stadium, Cairo Security Director Ali el-Demerdash told MENA.
Only ticket holders will be allowed into the stadium and they also must have their national IDs, Demerdash said.
All the stadium's surroundings, entrances, exits and seats are monitored by high-definition security cameras to record any violations, he said.
Any violations will be firmly handled, he stressed, adding that fans will not be allowed to carry any banned items (such as sound-producing items including fireworks, firecrackers and bang snaps, aerosol cans, matchstick boxes, mineral water bottles and soda cans). Only plastic water cups and juice cartons will be allowed, he said.
The Pharaohs of Egypt and Senegal’s Lions of Teranga will meet for the 2015 C Afcon qualifier at 7 p.m. (Cairo local time) on Saturday.
