Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, the president of the UAE Football Association, has resigned it was known here. He was elected to the post on June 8 2008. “This resignation is not a product of any outside factors. But, this is my personal belief and satisfaction. I have nothing to hide. I have already submitted my resignation more than once to Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Honorary president of the FA and latest being in September 2011 after our team’s defeat to Lebanon in the FIFA World Cup qualifier,” said Rumaithi. “This time, I’m confident that there are some people who are more competent to carry on and live up to our ambitions and the ambitions of the UAE fans. “I found it wiser to hand over the reins to someone else after having a strong feeling that I’m unable to achieve such ambitions and it’s not part of my believes to insist on remaining in this position which I consider as a responsibility and not an honour.”
