His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, affirmed that the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship scheduled for 25 November in Bahrain will be one of the important checkpoints to qualify athletes for the coming international participations. He indicated that the Bahraini team is fully ready to compete.
His Highness said that he will strive to achieve a new distinctive result in his next participation, exerting his best in training to reach the podium and win first place. He indicated that competition will not be easy, especially with the participation of veteran champions, but he will count on his high potential to qualify him.
His Highness said that organising one of the most important sporting events in the Middle East will enhance the Kingdom’s position on the world map as a prominent sports, economic and media centre in the region, reflecting the Kingdom’s advancement, thanks to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that the Bahraini team hopes to continue its brilliant performance in the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship and achieve advanced results, stating that the previous Dubai International Championship has equipped the team significantly, and all athletes are ready to compete.
His Highness commended the efforts exerted by the Organising Committee to provide a suitable environment for all participants in the event, noting that the Committee is keen to provide the best services to all participants in order to reflect on the success of the championship organisationally and technically.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa directed to hold IRONKIDS and IRONGIRL on Friday. According to his directives, the Organising Committee has opened the registration for the children’s race, which will take place at Bahrain Bay.
The Committee categorised the participants under the age of 14 years, as follows: the age group of 12-14 years will run for 2.5 km, the age group 10-12 years for 1.5 km, the age group 8-10 years for 1 km, the age group 6 8-years for 500 m, 4-6 years for 250 m, 4 years and younger for 100 meters.
