Sir Bani Yas, a horse owned by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was crowned champion at the Qatar International Stakes for Purebred Arabians at the Goodwood Festival, held in England.
The stallion, ridden by jockey Jean-Bernard Eyquem, fought a hard 1,600 metre battle and snatched the title at the finish line to deny Dutch challenger Prada T and fellow French raider Mister Ginoux who came in third place.
The competition concluded last night, bringing the 5-day event - which featured 37 horse-racing rounds and the participation of the world's best horses - to a close.
