Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated in the University of Bahrain (UoB) Charity Aquathlon Race, which was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Vice-Chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The swimming competition was held in the Bahrain Gulf coast over 500 meters, while the run was held for a distance of 5km. The championship was held at the individual and teams levels for all ages, with the participation of members of the Bahrain Triathlon team.
On this occasion, Shaikh Nasser assured the importance of organising an Aquathlon race, which is considered as one of the events that has noble goals in supporting charities in the Kingdom. It also confirms that sports link closely with the community to serve all kinds of initiatives.
He added that sport is not only a place to compete, but it has noble goals specially to attract financial support for charity. Shaikh Nasser assured as well that his participation in the race is to support it as its has humanitarian objectives that must be backed.
He pointed out that large-scale participation in this race proves that it is well-organised by the University of Bahrain for this charity event. He explained that his participation along with group of Bahrain Triathlon team members aims to promote the "Challenge Bahrain" international triathlon championship, which will take place on December 6, as well as to give an opportunity for everyone to participate in such events.
At the end of the race, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad received a memento given by the University of Bahrain President Dr. Ibrahim Janahi.
