Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs on Monday attended the official opening of the Armed Forces Officers Club (AFOC)'s 19th Open Sports Festival 2015 in a ceremony at Al Jahili Theatre.
The 19th edition of the festival is promising and will see athletic competitions that will promote the culture of fair competitions, inspire social sustainable development and motivate all people to improve their performance, H.H. Sheikh Mansour noted at the opening in the presence of ministers, high ranking officials and officers.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed greeted President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He also said that the AFOC's 19th tournament is in line with the UAE' celebration of 2015 as the year of innovation.
The festival features a variety of competitions in football, bowling, Judo, shooting, volleyball, wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, as well as "robot sports."
H.H. Sheikh Mansour welcomed the participants to the tournament and urged organisers to make more efforts to promote the stature of the UAE and its capital, Abu Dhabi as the seat of the festival.
