Cadet and junior taekwondokas representing Kuwait's Al-Arabi Sports Club clinched a silver and a bronze medal at the 2015 Qatar International Taekwondo Open on Sunday.
Athbi Al-Azmi took silver in the male juniors' under-63kgs after losing the final to Kamronbek Yakhshiboev of Uzbekistan.
The result boosts the young athlete's chances for Olympic Games qualification, adding to his points' tally, team official Ahmad Al-Qattan told KUNA.
Earlier, Nasser Ameer came joint third with Wafa Kord of Palestine in the cadets' under-49kgs. Ameer was denied the chance to reach the final after being beaten by Bahrain's Mohammad Ahmad in the semis.
The Kuwaiti side are hopeful for more accomplishments as they prepare both Talal Sarab and Ahmad Al-Sarraf for the juniors' under-73kgs on Monday.
The event has a high World Taekwondo Federation G1 classification, and includes world-renowned accomplished fighters in the sport, added the club official.
