Kuwait's national Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) team will head to the UK and the UAE to partake in tournaments to be held there, said an official here Thursday.
Member of the Martial Arts Committee of Kuwait Olympic Committee, Fouzan Al-Sabej, told KUNA that one team member will participate in the British tournament which will begin tomorrow (Friday), while eight others, including himself, will patrake in the tournament to be held in Al-Ain, UAE, on October 24th.
BJJ is a grappling martial arts with origins tracing back to Japanese Jujitsu. The main focus of this martial art is to perform submission holds or chokes to win over the opponent.
Most practitioners of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), competing in promotions such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to develop their ground fighting and grappling techniques.
