The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), Aspire Zone Foundation, Qatar Football Association and Qatar Stars League on Sunday announced plans to organise six matches of QNB Stars League, Qatargas League as well as Second Division at the renovated Khalifa International Stadium between 20th November and 1st December, 2017.
The QNB Stars League games rescheduled to be played at the refurbished venue are Al Rayyan vs Al Gharafa (Round 9, 25th November) and Al Khor vs Al Sadd (Round 10, 1st December).
Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa were to originally play at the Al Sadd Stadium, while the other fixture was Al Khors home match.
The decision to host these matches at the Khalifa International Stadium, which opened its doors to the world this May with HH the Emirs Cup final, is to give Qatars wider footballing family an opportunity to experience the first 2022 FIFA World Cup host venue to be completed.
It will also allow the Khalifa International Stadium Operations Team to continue testing venue operations and management as part of the SCs ongoing readiness strategy.
All eight proposed World Cup venues, which will be completed by 2020, undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are being operated effectively
