Tunisian side Esperance are close to securing passage to the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League after smashing Dynamos of Zimbabwe 6-0 in the first leg of the 16th round at home on Saturday. A goal in the eighth minute by Walid Hicheri gave Esperance an early lead, seven minutes before Karim Aouadhi doubled the score. The Tunisian giants dominated their Zimbabwean foes as they edged to finish the first half with a 3-0 win when Yousif Msakni found the net in the 37 minute to score the third goal. In the second half, Yannik Ndjeng netted the fourth in the 77th minute to finish the Zimbabwean side's hopes, with Msakni confirming Esperance's ability to smash their opponents as he signed a hat-trick with the fifth and sixth goals. In another game, Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia also crushed Ivory Coast's Amadou Diallo 4-1 in the CAF Champions League round of 16 first leg in Tunisia. Etoile du Sahel dominated their foes throughout the game, despite losing a penalty kick, finishing the match with a 4-1 win. The Tunisian side's Chehoudi netted the first goal in the 28thminute, and then Jaziri doubled the score in the 54thminute with a penalty kick.
