Football stoppages during revolution won’t prevent Super Cup after Ahly exit African Champions LeagueThe Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has announced they are discussing the scheduling of the Egypt Super Cup with the competition committee. The match will be played between Egyptian Premier League champions, Ahly, and the eventual winner of the Egypt Cup.“We can’t cancel the Super Cup due to commitments with sponsors so we are thinking of a good date to hold the game,” EFA chairman, Samir Zaher, told Ahram Online.Domestic football competitions have been disrupted by the Egyptian Revolution as all football activities were paused for months due to security concerns.“Ahly’s exit from the African Champions League allowed us to rethink holding the Super Cup before the next league season launches on 14 October,” EFA competition committee president, Amer Hussien, confirmed. The Cairo giant was knocked out of the CAF Champions League at the group stage following a 1-1 home draw with Tunisia’s Esperance. “All Egypt Cup teams in addition to Ahly don’t oppose the idea of holding the Super Cup,” he insisted.Ahly are the winner of the last Super Cup against holders Haras El-Hodoud.
