Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) and Nasser Bin Hamad Foundation (NBHF) Cross Island Race will take place at 2pm today, starting from Al Dur village throughout 17 Kilometers to Al Shira Club on the other side of the country. The race will include the participation of its Patron, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. It is organised in cooperation between NBF and BRR Committee. More than 400 local and regional runners will race for charity today, following HH Shaikh Nasser’s visions which prove that sports has a main role in supporting noble causes. He said "organising the race has deeper humanitarian purposes to support charity works than being a regular sports event." HH Shaikh Nasser appreciated the efforts paid by the organising committee to organise the race and contribute in spreading sports culture among members of the Bahraini society. BRR Committee Head Tariq Al Qusaiby affirmed that the committee is all set for the race. He stated that HH Shaikh Nasser’s support and participation contributed in attracting many local and resident runners to take part in the race. "The route of the race is ready and we have allocated water-distribution and treatment points along the path," asserted Mr. Al Quaibi. Head of HH Shaikh Nasser’s Media Office Tawfeeq Al Salehy assured that all arrangement for covering the race are set, assuring that the race will be covered by Television and local newspapers.
