Gulf Sports Expo, the largest sports exhibition of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, opens its doors to the public on Wednesday at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The three-day event is being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The expo brings together sports icons, local and international athletes, sports industry professionals, organisations, and enthusiasts from Bahrain, the GCC, and other Arab countries all under one roof.

Over 30 companies are participating this year, including global brands such as Technogym, Puma, and Honda Motorcycles, who will be showcasing their latest products, equipment, and technologies from the world of sports. There will also be healthy and nutritious food exhibited.

“Gulf Sports Expo is the first event of its kind in Bahrain, and it’s a realisation of long held strategies by the Ministry to enrich the sports infrastructure in the Kingdom and keep it up to date with the latest in the world of sports,” Khalid Saleem Al Haj, Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs’ Assistant Undersecretary for Sports and Facilities Affairs, said.

“It aims to reinforce Bahrain’s position as a prime host for the exhibitions and conferences industry by creating an interactive environment between sports brands and enthusiasts, while also raising awareness about the importance of health and fitness. The Ministry will be committed to organising more events of this nature in the future as part of its long-term strategy to advance the Kingdom’s sports sector,”

“Including cricket in such a historic event shows just how popular the sport has become in Bahrain,” said Bahrain Cricket Academy Chairmain Aref Sadeq.

Cricket has roots here that dated back to 1935, and its fanbase in the Kingdom has been growing steadily over the years. Bahrain Cricket Festival is a way of uniting professional and international cricketers with that fanbase through exciting matches, and creating a unique atmosphere similar to the one that this expo is creating.”

“Cricket is one of the most famous games in the world and the sub-continent and yet something new in Bahrain and organising major upcoming cricket event in Bahrain next Friday 19th of May will serve as major step forward for taking cricket to the next level for public,” Sadeq told the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the Press conference.

“We appreciate the support of HH Shaikh Nasser and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs for helping us to organize first mega cricket event in Bahrain,” he added.

The annual exhibition is being organised by HANO Consultancy in association with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, and Gulf Air as a strategic partner to the event, in line with achieving the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

Local professional players serving as Ambassadors of their respective sports at the expo include Ali Monfaradi (JiuJitsu), Mohammed Salmeen (football), Jaffer Abdulqader (handball), Mahmood Hassan (volleyball) and Fatima Bushehri (basketball). The expo has also partnered with Bahrain Cricket Festival, an event that is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in cooperation with Bahrain Cricket Academy, and whose stars will be present at the exhibition, where tickets to the festival will also be sold.
