Adnan Al-Alawi of Bahrain won first place in the local Belgian show jumping championship “Azelhof”, which was held amid large participation of 54 Belgian and European competitors.
Al-Alawi managed to snatch the championship round of 130-135-cm hurdle height which featured the participation of Belgium Jeroen de Winter, ranked first in the European continent below the age of 25. The Bahraini participant achieved a clean round then moved to a tie-breaking round that he passed without errors in the fastest time.
Al-Alawi expressed his delight in achieving first place in the championship, in which an elite group of Belgian and European riders participated, proving the extent advancement of Bahrain’s show jumping sport on a technical level.
“This victory is a global gain to the Kingdom of Bahrain in the sport of show jumping, especially given the direct support and attention of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee. Continuous and successive training in a perfect atmosphere prepared by show jumping officials in Bahrain contributed to this wonderful achievement,” he said.
He added, “Competition was very strong, especially in light of the large participation of elite riders with high levels of experience and skill, but I was able to win, which brings optimism for more achievements in the future”.
