Bahrain has won the Best of Nation medal in the World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017.
Bahrain Polytechnic College of Technology student Maliha Moudhafar claimed was presented with the coveted medal, along with a certificate of excellence in the final ceremony.
The 2017 laureate totaled 660 points in the webpage making skill, outclassing 1300 competitors who represented 59 countries in 51 skills.
The students representing the Kingdom of Bahrain have also excelled in the 44th edition of the global competition, totaling more than 600 points in different skills.
Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi congratulated the laureate and other Bahrain students on their honourable results which, he said, reflects the Kingdom’s strides in promoting education and training, developing technical and vocational training and motivating students into enrolling in technical specialties to ensure their employability.
“Bahrain performed honourably in its first participation despite competing with major industrial powers like China, Russia, South Korea, Japan and France, which is in itself a source of pride”, he said.
He commended Bahraini youth for their ability to compete on the international level, reiterated the ministry’s keenness on participating at such high-profile arenas, gaining expertise and benefiting from successful practices.
Assistant Undersecretary for General and Technical Education Latifa Al-Bounoudha commended all those who contributed to achieving these honourable results.
She paid tribute in this regard, to ministry specialists, schools, higher education institutions and labour market enterprises which cooperated to hone the skills of six students in webpage making, graphics, health and medical care, motor technology, welding and electrical wiring.
