Australian referee Benjamin William officially announced quitting the ongoing Arab Gulf soccer tournament 22 in Riyadh, citing personal circumstances compelling him to return home five days before the end of the event.
The tournament's organizing committee and the refereeing committee, led by Selistian Nato of Rwanda, together accepted the letter of apology of the referee, and accordingly requested the Asian Soccer Federation to provide a substitute in the coming hours.
It deserves mentioning that the Saudi national team's administration has earlier expressed unsatistaction over the performance of the refereeing team who managed the Saudi Arabia - Qatar encounter at the opening of the tournament last night.
