Kuwait's Hamad Al-Afasi clinched double trap gold at the annual Crown Prince Grand Shooting Tournament hosted in his home nation on Thursday.
Al-Afasi made a total 136 shots out of 150, edging Hamad Al-Mijren of the United Arab Emirates' by three, with his compatriot Saad Al-Mutairi (133 shots) coming third.
The event, held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, is hosting competitors from Kuwait Shooting Club and the local military and police sports academies alongside shooters from the UAE.
A delighted Al-Afasi told KUNA it was an accomplishment he held dearly, "due to extensive preparation made ahead of the competition," he had aimed to win.
The achievement continues the great form he has been experiencing lately at the local and international levels, and he expects this to continue throughout upcoming events.
The competition is due to launch the pistol and rifle events on its second and third days after the conclusion of shotgun events.
