The Egyptian giants have been reassured that their Champions League match against Ethiopian Coffee can go ahead at the Military Academy stadium so long as no fans attend it.Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has released a statement giving Al Ahly permission to host their April 8 Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League encounter against Ethiopian Coffee at the Military Academy stadium without fans present. This comes comes a day after a club spokesman stressed that Al Ahly risked being expelled from the Caf competitions for up to three years should their match be held elsewhere and urged Cairo police to agree to provide security.Mohamed Ibrahim, Egypt’s minister of interior, alluded to Al Ahly’s appeal and also cited the negative impression that the cancellation of such an important match would have on the country’s sporting image in the statement that was released on Wednesday.
