Algerian boxer Mohamed Flissi (52kg) has defeated France's Redouane Asloum by a knockout on Sunday in his first fight of the 1st edition of the new professional boxing competition (AIBA Pro Boxing) in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Flissi, world's vice-champion and African champion, ended the fight in the second round (1:24) by defeating his opponent by a knockout in the new competition, which kicked off Friday, and is being held in different cities around the world.
Another Algerian pugilist, Abdelkader Chadi (64 kg), will fight Monday in Novosibirsk, against Lithuania's Evaldas Petrauskas, bronze winner at London Olympic Games in 2012.
Algeria is competing in this edition with five of its best boxers, who were selected by the international boxing association AIBA.
The selected Algerian pugilists are: Mohamed Flissi (52kg), Abdelkader Chadi (64 kg), Nawfel Ouatah (+91 kg) and Abdelhafid Benchabla (81 kg). This latter withdrew because of an injury in a car accident.
