January's Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship promises an unforgettable weekend as organisers get ready to celebrate 10 years of world-class golf with 10 times more off-course fun at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Championship regulars and first-timers have more reason than ever to attend the anniversary event with the event's best line-up of fairway family fun, fashion, famous faces, delectable cuisine, sporting activities and a bumper prize haul.
The always-popular "Ladies Day" returns on Friday, January 16th, with Hello! Middle East's society photographers and fashion-clad judges hunting for the best-dressed ladies to grace the National Course's rolling fairways. Raising the bar on previous Ladies Days, next year there'll be a special celebratory 10 prizes up for grabs for 10 lucky winners.
Last January, winner Goldie Belcin took home an all-inclusive trip-of-a-lifetime to Bangkok, courtesy of Championship partners The St. Regis Saadiyat Island and Etihad Airways.
Championship-goers will also enjoy enhanced hospitality chalets, offering a truly five-star experience, and new and improved spectator platforms to deliver the true ‘up-close viewing' that hallmarks Abu Dhabi's European Tour-backed PGA championship.
Abu Dhabi's much-loved Championship Village will be packed full with even more attractions and competitions in celebration of the championship's 10th anniversary, which will run from 15th – 18th January.
Adding to the Championship Village's abundance of casual dining options and family-friendly entertainment, visitors will be kept on their toes with surprise activities and appearances from star players and celebrity sports personalities. Golfing superstars have been known to crop up at unexpected moments to delight fans with autographs and meet-and-greets.
The HSBC World of Sport throws up Village highlights year-on-year, encouraging fans to test their skills at a huge number of sports from golf and tennis to rugby and cricket. Next year, young budding sports stars can expect world famous HSBC ambassadors, including the likes of Tim Henman, to be on hand with all the best tips and tricks.
HSBC Global Head of Sponsorship and Events, Giles Morgan, said, "As a long term international sponsor of the game, our ambition is to open up the world of golf and the HSBC World of Sport at the Championship is a perfect example of how we're doing that. We know the tournament attracts people of all ages and backgrounds and we offer a relaxed, family-friendly environment where everyone can improve their game, meet a sporting hero and most of all have fun with the variety of sports on offer. It's an unmissable attraction at an unmissable tournament." When visitors are not competing for prizes or meeting famous faces in the Championship Village, they will be able to enjoy the world's best golfers battle it out for the ultimate prize – the 10th anniversary title and Falcon Trophy. Headlining the 2015 Championship will be world number one Rory McIlroy, three-time Abu Dhabi winner and German giant Martin Kaymer, as well as Ryder Cup hero Justin Rose. More stars will be announced soon.
