Chilean side Union Espanola and Atletico Nacional of Colombia booked their places in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores today. Union defeated Bolivar of Bolivia 2-1 and moved clear at the top of Group 3 on ten points, three more than tonight's opponents, with only one matchday remaining. Braulio Leal headed the ball into the back of the net after a corner kick to put Jose-Luis Sierra's Union side ahead in the 18th minute. It was not until the 66th minute that the home team doubled their lead, as Sebastian Jaime headed the ball and Emanuel Herrera only had to touch it into the empty net. Seven minutes before the final whistle, Ever Cantero reduced the deficit with another header. Nacional cruise through Nacional, meanwhile, thrashed Uruguayan side Penarol 3-0 at home and went to the top of Group 8. Nacional went ahead thanks to a seventh-minute goal by Oscar Murillo and striker Dorlan Pabon doubled the lead seconds before half-time with a tremendous free-kick. Diego Alvarez consolidated the win by connecting with Alejandro Bernal's pass on the hour. Nacional are atop the group with 11 points, one more than nearest chasers Universidad de Chile and six above Argentina's Godoy Cruz. Arsenal stay alive In Venezuela, Argentinian side Arsenal claimed a 1-0 away win at Zamora. A single goal by Juan-Pablo Caffa in the 29th minute was enough to help Arsenal remain alive in the tournament. Arsenal are third in Group 4 on six points, one below Boca Juniors and six behind already-qualified Fluminense. Finally in Ecuador, Deportivo Quito claimed a 2-0 win over Uruguay's Defensor Sporting thanks to goals from Luis Checa and Julio-Maximiliano Bevacqua. Defensor defender Federico Pintos was sent off. As a result, Deportivo Quito must beat Mexico's Guadalajara next week to reach the last 16.
