Kyle Lafferty scored the only goal of the game as Rangers moved ten points clear of Celtic at the summit of the Scottish Premier League with a 1-0 win over Hibernian. The Northern Irishman netted in the second half after Steven Whittaker missed from the penalty spot just before half-time. The win allowed the Scottish champions to pile the pressure on Celtic, who have two games in hand, ahead of their meeting with Hearts tomorrow, with nearest rivals Motherwell nine points behind Rangers. Motherwell were 3-1 winners at Dundee United thanks to a Michael Higdon brace after Keith Lasley had given them a 13th-minute lead. Jon Daly pulled one back for United 13 minutes from the end, but Well comfortably held on for their sixth win in ten league games. Inverness are just a point behind Dunfermline at the bottom of the table as they came from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1. Marc McAusland opened the scoring for the Saints against the run of play in the 22nd minute, but Andrew Shinnie\'s first goal in Inverness colours levelled things nine minutes later. Caley Thistle continued to create the bulk of the chances and were rewarded for their efforts 12 minutes from time, Gregory Tade well placed to deflect home a Shinnie shot that had initially bounced across the goal after hitting the upright. St Johnstone moved up to fourth place - at least until Hearts play Celtic tomorrow - after beating Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park. Francisco Sandaza gave the visitors the lead in the first half, breaking a ragged Kilmarnock defensive line to slot past Cammy Bell for his seventh goal of the season. Killie drew level through a Steven Anderson own goal, but Cillian Sheridan grabbed his third goal in two games to give St Johnstone the lead, rounding Bell and finishing with style.
