A goal ten minutes from time from Nicola Legrottaglie gave Catania victory over UEFA Champions League-chasing Lazio today. Legrottaglie struck towards the end of a game that had looked to be heading for a stalemate. The visitors were unlucky not to equalise at the death when Catania midfielder Francesco Lodi deflected Stefano Mauri\'s cross off his own post. Lazio are in third place but could drop into fourth spot after Napoli\'s match at Udinese tonight. Both sides are two points behind Lazio going into their game, with the win lifting Catania to sixth. They had the first chance in the 12th minute but Alejandro Gomez headed Lodi\'s cross wide. Gonzalo Bergessio got closer for the hosts on the half-hour mark when he nodded Mariano Izco\'s pass just over the bar. Catania continued to press forward and Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti had to be alert when keeping out Izco\'s hard drive from 30 yards. Lazio almost went in front on the stroke of half-time but Andrea Dias\' close-range header was saved by Catania goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo. Lazio almost broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half when Antonio Candreva fed Hernanes in the box but his attempt was saved by Carrizo. The visitors wasted a good chance to go in front in the 71st minute. Christian Brocchi found Klose in the heart of the area and the German forward struck the ball over the bar. But, just when Lazio looked more dangerous, Catania found a way through. Lazio failed to clear Francesco Lodi\'s cross in the area and the ball fell to Legrottaglie, who hit a right-footed shot past Marchetti. Lazio\'s Klose then headed Cristian Ledesma\'s cross over the bar before Lodi was fortunate when he attempted to clear with his head Mauri\'s dangerous ball and watched it bounce off the woodwork.
