Borussia Dortmund bounced straight back from their midweek UEFA Champions League disappointment to see off winless Augsburg with an emphatic 4-0 victory at the Westfalenstadion. Robert Lewandowski grabbed a hat-trick and Mario Gotze was also on target as the defending Bundesliga champions moved up to fourth in the table, with their second win in a row taking them to within six points of the summit. They were aided by some poor defending from Augsburg, who dropped to the bottom of the table as a result of the heavy defeat. A Mats Hummels mistake gave Augsburg an early chance to go ahead. His weak header was pounced on by Daniel Brinkmann, who lobbed his shot over Roman Weidenfeller, but Felipe Santana was covering on the goalline to make a clearance. A defensive mistake at the other end allowed Dortmund to take the lead after half an hour. Hajime Hosogai made a mess of his clearance and Jakub Blaszczykowski took advantage to pick out Lewandowski, who took the ball down, turned and shot past Simon Jentzsch. Goals keep coming Lewandowski benefited from another error to score his and Dortmund\'s second just before half-time. Ginril Sankoh was this time the culprit with a poor clearance to the Poland international, who picked his spot from ten yards out. Dortmund did not require any more favours to cruise to victory, with Gotze taking the initiative and testing Jentzsch whenever he could. His persistency was rewarded in the 75th minute when he was picked out in the middle by Lewandowski and provided a cool finish past Jentzsch. The pair combined again for the fourth goal three minutes later, with Gotze crossing for Lewandowski to complete his hat-trick with a header from six yards out.
