The squad of Central Africa managed, on Sunday, to hold its Moroccan counterpart to a 0-0 draw, as part of the qualifiers for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Lions of the Atlas came within an ace of a large victory through a host of opportunities, especially by striker Youssef Al Arabi, but their aim was hurdled by the fact that the pitch was so waterlogged. For this reason, theree were intense discussions until few minutes before the kick-off of the game on whether the match can take place as the pitch seemed unfit to host it. Morocco was expected to win easily, not the least after the brilliant performance under the new coach, Belgian Eric Gerets. The squad thrashed Algeria in the previous round of the qualifiers 4-0 and beat Senegal 2-0 in a friendly. The Moroccan line-up will play Tanzania in the last round in early October, and has all chances to qualify for the finals. The other game of the group, between Tanzania and Algeria, ended on Saturday in a one-all draw.
